Apogee

Solo exhibition at Vulkano in Gothenburg – Installation in six video channels and two audio channels, three inkjet prints size 150 x 112 cm mounted on wooden frames.

Apogee describes the most extreme point of a celestial body's orbit around the earth. Kim Johansson’s work plays with a human longing for weightlessness and creates a visual dialogue between the underground, the earth's surface and the atmosphere.

The works are based on YouTube videos which depict activities such as base jumping, caving, space tourism, VR and anti-gravity experiences. For this exhibition, the video sequences have been reworked into drawings and animations in which anonymous figures remain stuck in repetitive movements.

The soundscape is made in collaboration with Gustav Lejelind.
